چکیده
Let G (V, E) be an undirected graph. The random walk on G is a Markov chain on V that, at each time step, moves to a uniformly random neighbor of the current vertex. Ffsor x ∈ V , use dx to denote the degree of vertex x. Then more formally, random walk on G is the following process {Xt}. We start at at some node X0 v0 ∈ V . Then if Xt v, we put Xt+1 w with probability 1/dv for every neighbor w of v.

How Slow, or Fast, Are Standard Random Walks? - Analyses of Hitting and Cover Times on Tree
Random walk is a powerful tool, not only for modeling, but also for practical use such as the Internet crawlers. Standard random walks on graphs have been well studied; It is well-known that both hitting time and cover time of a standard random walk are bounded by O(n) for any graph with n vertices, besides the bound is tight for some graphs. Ikeda et al. (2003) provided “β-random walk,” which ...
متن کاملSimple random walks on wheel graphs
A simple random walk on a graph is defined in which a particle moves from one vertex to any adjacent vertex, each with equal probability. The expected hitting time is the expected number of steps to get from one vertex to another before returning to the starting vertex. In this paper, using the electrical network approach, we provide explicit formulae for expected hitting times for simple rando...
متن کاملSimple Random Walks on Radio Networks (Simple Random Walks on Hyper-Graphs)
In recent years, protocols that are based on the properties of random walks on graphs have found many applications in communication and information networks, such as wireless networks, peer-to-peer networks and the Web. For wireless networks (and other networks), graphs are actually not the correct model of the communication; instead hyper-graphs better capture the communication over a wireless...
متن کاملProbabilistic Self-Stabilization and Biased Random Walks on Dynamic Graphs
A distributed system is said to be probabilistic self-stabilizing, if it eventually converges to a legitimate computation with probability 1, starting from any global configuration. Like a self-stabilizing system, a probabilistic self-stabilizing system tolerates any number of transient failures and recovers a legitimate computation, but only probabilistically, unlike a self-stabilizing system,...
متن کاملHow to Compute Times of Random Walks Based Distributed Algorithms
Random walk based distributed algorithms make use of a token that circulates in the system according to a random walk scheme to achieve their goal. To study their efficiency and compare it to one of the deterministic solutions, one is led to compute certain quantities, namely the hitting times and the cover time. Until now, only bounds on these quantities were defined. First, this paper present...
